No, I do not steer with the outboard when under power. I lock it down and
steer with the ruder. You could steer with the motor but the rudder would
pose a problem unless you locked it down, Both cannot be free to swing or
you have a coordination problem. My motor would hit the rudder blade in a
sharp turn if the blade was not centered . Of course you could remove the
rudder but it would be rather obtrusive sitting in the cockpit with you!
