The fittings on these types of tanks must be melted to the tank. Take
the tank to a shop (holiday trailer usually or a plastics place) that
sells or services them. They have a tool that holds the fitting which
is spun against the body of the tank. The friction created between the
two, melts both sides. The operator knows when to stop turning from
experience. He simply holds the tool steady till everything cools and
you are done.
