My understanding of our boat is that ANY weight that you can move forward, the better for sailing.  I have extended my cigarette lighter plug cord so that my battery is now at nearly the most forward area of the starboard setee, about even with the table. emember, I have no charging circit and am using the "jump starter 1000" sealed unit.
