Raleigh here is my guess.

Black goes to ground or negative of the battery. This is the return path 
for all power.
Red goes to positive of the battery. If this wire is the heavy gauge one 
then it supplies the current for the transmitter.
Orange goes to switched positive. If this wire is the light gauge one 
then it supplies the current for the control head.
