Mine came with a
fixed 3 rung and when it's up, you tend to bump your head on it depending on
which way you are sitting in the cockpit. I have a small line tied with a
slipknot on it from the backstay to the ladder to keep it out of the way.
I was thinking about getting one of those telescoping ones, but there is
something to be said for less moving parts! From experience, I would also
recommend some sort of flat surface for the rungs. Standing for any length
of time on a round bar while barefoot is not pleasant.
