Yesterday I downsized most of the photos on the
Photo Gallery pages and I replaced my boat picture next to the Ferry landing at
Friday Harbor with an animated sail boat. On my computer (an old 386 upgraded to
486 with only 32mb of RAM) the animation delays the page opening about 30-60
seconds. What does it do on yours? It is cool but I don't want to cause a
problem for you or surfers opening the page and getting to what you want. By the
way, I would really appreciate any pictures or descriptions of your summer
boating activities to update the Cruise, Race, and Photo Gallery pages. Just a
picture of you in the cockpit, standing on the dock, or having a tall one after
the race will do. I will link them to your skipper entry so when someone sees
your name and where you sail, they can click and go see your smiling face (or
whatever is your best shot!).

P.S. Today I am hosting a
"Christmas in October" party here in Friday Harbor for some members of
the old Seattle San Juan 23 Club of which my sister Maxine and her husband Rod
Staley were Commodores (Chief rabble rousers). We used to get together in
December when the boats were stored for the winter and then we all go so old we
travel to Arizona and Florida for the winter so we had to move the date up!
Boating friendships last a long time. We are going to have to schedule a San
Juan 23 Internet Fleet get-together somewhere in the middle of the U.S. or
Canada with or without boats someday. Give it some thought.
