RE: Tech Tip E01

I have a 6 hp Evinrude on my San Juan 24. Fixed keel, on Tampa Bay. It's
more than enough to push my boat at hull speed against the tide, even
against 3-4 waves (though the rocking of the boat will sometimes lift the
motor out of the water- one hand on the throttle.) Mines a 2 stroke, circa
1985. The 2 strokes will be lighter and 20 lbs can make a big difference
lifting over the stern!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a 2HP is good enough only in NO wind
and
probably in a harbour only.

Get a 5HP 4 stroke or a 6HP 2 stroke (or stronger).
I consider 10HP too much due to weight. But then I don't have a tide to
contend
with on a lake.
