Re: Centerboard

I have had the same problem with my centerboard. Each time after launching
I find that my board is stuck in an upward condition. The board itself is
only about six years old; as its previous owner had one put in. My solution
to this delima may be in the Tech tips or the Archives. After launching I
tie up at the dock and remove the table from the pedestal. At this point I
retrieve my 3/8" x 30" steel rod and a small hammer. Placing the rod on the
centerboard and allowing only an inch of slack or so on the cable keeps the
cable intact when the centerboard swings free, after tapping lightly.
This has turned into a ritual for me each time I launch. I do not have
this problem when I retrieve my boat from the mooring. It is my practice to
keep the board up when not attended.
I hope this may help.
Smooth sailing

Bob Schimmel's Tech Tip B01 might help. If you haven't looked
there recently, you may be surprised at the detail he added at last
revision.
