Re: depth meter

Rudy
I have put depth sounders in the hull under the Vee berth. This gives the best reading of depth before one encounters shallow water.
Before you cut a hole in three boat, try shooting through the hull. There are two ways to do that. One is to cement the transducer to the hull with Sika Flex, making sure that there is no air in the adhesive. The other way is to cement a bowl to the hull. Drill a hole for the transducer, make sure the transducer does not touch the hull. You also need a hole to fill the  bowl with mineral oil. I used this method for nine years with great results.

Subject: depth meter

My SJ23 does not have a depth indicator or knotmeter or windspeed indicator.  I have a handheld GPS for speed, don't care about the windspeed indicator yet but would like to have a depth indicator since there are some shoals around.
What do you have, where do you locate a transducer?  Anyone use a thru the hull transducer?  My 1986 doesn't have a bilge so I really don't know where to put a transducer.......
