I bought my replacement from Gene and find it to be lighter (no water inside) stiffer because of proper lamination and coring, and cleaner since it isn't sitting in the water with or without bottom paint.
When installing a new one epoxy some sleeves in for the pintle bolts because tightening them too much will crush it causing cracks and it also makes a great sealing surface for the bolts. Think if it like you are bedding a winch.
Most importantly take it off and store it below when your back at the dock and you won't have delam problems. It is really easy and safer.

Obviously checking them regularly and repairing any beginning cracksto avoid water getting inside is important. Would extra coats ofepoxy/barrier coat avoid the problem? Is the likelihood of problems equallygreat with the kick-up rudder on the Mark 1 model and the full rudder used on the Mark ll model, or are they built differently? Thanks for any responses.
