Re: SJ 23 News

I BELIEVE YOU WILL FIND THE "I" OF 28 FEET IS CORRECT AS WELL AS A "J" OF 9.5 FEET.

THE LUFF OF HEAD SAIL IS MEASURED ALONG THE FORE STAY. USING THE ABOVE DIMENSIONS IN A RIGHT TRIANGLE, THE FORE STAY LENGTH IS ABOUT 29' 7" FEET. THIS IS WITHOUT MAST RAKE.

THE LUFF OF MY GENOA IS 28' 6".

I RAN INTO ALL THE ABOVE WHILE REPLACING A FORE STAY. MY FORE STAY IS ABOUT 29' 6" . THIS INCLUDES CABLE AND ALL HARDWARE BETWEEN DECK AND MAST. MY FORE STAY WITHOUT TURNBUCKLE AND ETC IS 28' 6 13/16".

The San Juan brochure I have lists the "I" dimension ( up the forestay) as 28 feet even, but the class rule state a max luff of 28 feet 6 inches. Anybody know which is correct?
